Vij5 (pronounced "veif", meaning the number 5 in Dutch) is a collaborative Dutch design label based in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Founded by Arjan van Raadshooven and Anieke Branderhorst, Vij5 actively seeks collaboration with other young designers. Its collection of interior products is characterized by its minimalist aesthetics and functionality. Arjan and Anieke are involved throughout the process - conceptualizing, prototyping, manufacturing and distribution - giving the label its signature and high quality standards. What is common to the products in the collection by various designers is the use of pure, honest materials, clean lines and fine details.
LLOOP LAMP
The Lloop lamp is adjustable in height by extending or shortening the loop of the electricity cable which comes as the result of a wooden piece attached to the cable. With this the function becomes the decoration - simple and clear with no hidden techniques.
DASHED LIGHT
The lamp shades are laser cut from a thin brass plate and folded by hand along the perforated lines, hence its namesake “Dashed”, into a three dimensional shape. Small pop rivets are used at the corner points to make sure everything stays fixed into place. Light leaks through the dashed lines in the lamp, creating a special light pattern in your space.
BRASS LIGHT / COPPER LIGHT / WOODEN LIGHT
Simply by folding, a thin metal sheet can be constructed into stable forms. This principle defines the shape and aesthetics of the Brass Light and Copper Light. Lines are etched halfway into the material for precise bending, thereafter the metal sheets are folded and assembled by hand. As for the Wooden Light, it is made from laser cut beech wood veneer with a film backing.
